Engagement sessions are so fun to capture because the couple is so in love and we get to take portraits that become a big part of their love story! For Chris and Christy, who are tying the knot in April 2026, this was also an opportunity to celebrate a place that means so much to them: Asbury Park.
Chris and I go way back, we used to work together at RevZilla and we're both rock climbers, so when he reached out with creative ideas for their engagement shoot, I knew it was going to be something special. The day before the session, I texted him with a thought: “What if we did this at sunrise instead?” Not only would the boardwalk be quieter and less intimidating without crowds, but it also meant I wouldn’t have to spend hours editing people out of the background. Thankfully, Chris and Christy were all in.
So, at sunrise, we met on the boardwalk with the beach nearly to ourselves. The morning started off cool and calm, and by the time we wrapped, the day was already shaping up to be perfect for the beach. That quiet, early light paired with Chris and Christy’s energy made for an incredible session.
Here’s what’s included in an engagement session:
✨ Up to 90 minutes of photography time
✨ Two outfits for variety
✨ An online gallery with 50 edited images
✨ High-resolution digital downloads
What made this session even more special was weaving in a few rolls of film photography alongside the digital images. There’s something timeless about film—the way it captures light, texture, and little imperfections that make each frame unique. It feels honest, raw, and nostalgic all at once, and I love the character it brings to a gallery like this.
Whether it’s digital or film, engagement sessions are a beautiful way to mark this season of life and create images that feel true to you. If you’ve been dreaming about portraits that capture both the polished and the perfectly imperfect, let’s plan your own session.
