This June, I got to hang out with Jenny, Jake, and their two boys, Jackson and Archie, for a private mini session. From the very beginning, it was clear how much this family loves being outside together. Hiking, swimming, bike rides, walks—you name it, they’re up for it. So it made sense to capture them doing what they do best: moving, laughing, and playing in Haddon Lake Park in Haddon Heights, NJ (you know this is a favorite spot of mine).


The boys kept me on my toes in the best way. They were full of energy and curiosity, smiles and squeezes. After our 20-minute session of relaxed portraits and plenty of giggles, the skateboards and bikes came out so they could tear it up in the park. It felt a little bit like a Ted Lasso episode in real life: joyful, a little chaotic, and totally heartwarming.


It was such a perfect reflection of their family’s stage of life right now: adventurous, joyful, and always on the move. Whether they’re outside together or curled up with a good book like One Morning in Maine.
